Bengal Sappers Officers Association (Roorkee)

The Colours on 12 Jan 1989 :
In   recog   of  the  rich  history  in  the service  of  the nation, Honourable Shri    R Venkataraman, President of India presented the Bengal Engineer Group the ‘Colours’, at Roorkee on 12 Jan 1989.

Sports :
Bengal Sappers have also contributed immensely to sports and adventure activities.  It was through the efforts of Naik Teja Singh and Lance Naik Bhag Singh that Bengal Sappers represented India in first Asian Games in 1951 and Teja Singh brought Silver Medal in 400m hurdles. The saga of contribution of the sportsmen can be gauged from the fact that Bengal Sappers have won 11 Arjuna Awards till dt.  In adventure sports,  Maj Nandu Jayal, Lt Col Yadav Puri and Maj Jai Bahuguna, VSM, KC, SM in mountaineering, Maj AK Singh of TRISHNA fame in sailing and Col RV Kenjalkar in hang gliding are some among the long list of stalwarts. During the 18th Asian Games conducted at Jakarata (Palembang) Spr Sukhmeet Singh of Centre got Gold Medal and Nb Sub Dushyant Chauhan and Spr Rohit Kumar earned Bronze Medal in rowing discipline.

Tri service affiliation :
Bengal Sappers have also had the unique distinction of getting affiliated with INS BRAHMAPUTRA and AF Stn Sarsawa, in the year 2001. This tri service affiliation is the first of its kind in the history of the Indian Armed Forces.

GOC-in-C Central Comd :
The Bengal Engineer Group (BEG) & Centre has been awarded the GOC-in-C, Central Comd, Unit Citation in the year 2009, 2016 & 2021.

Mountaineering Expedition :
Bengal Sappers Mountaineering Expedition team successfully conquered the formidable peak Mt Satopanth on 02 Oct 17.

Republic Day Parade – 2021 :
Contingent of Bengal Sappers participated in Republic Day Parade – 2021 and was adjudged Best Marching Contingent in Army Day Parade.
